Four Words
Keys to Victory
The Bible is a book that is disdained by many.
It’s a book many put on the shelf and pay no attention to, and it collects dust.
Sometimes, it’s kind of like a lifejacket. They don’t want it in them, but they want it near them in the event of a crisis.
One person said that the thing that keeps many people from the scripture is not the part they don’t understand but the part they do.
However, to a lot of folks, the Bible is like reading a sundial by the light of the moon. It’s a book of deep, dark, difficult, indiscernible discourses.
I want to talk to you about that blessed Book.
Pentecost’s greatest asset is not our choirs, our eloquent ministry, or our incredible auditorium.
Pentecost’s greatest asset is the unadulterated, anointed liberty-giving power of the word of God.
The Bible is the written will of God.
It is the image of the invisible God in word form.
The Bible is called the Book of Life.
It is the instruction manual for a happy life and a blessed eternity.
I think it’s time for Pentecost to let God and the world know that to us our relationship with Him is more than fire insurance.
The great Houdini, the escape artist, was baffled by a door he could not unlock was a door that was not locked. He worked for hours trying to pick a lock that was not set.
I’m here to preach to you today that the Bible says the God of glory has set before us an open door. An open door.
You don’t have to be a Houdini, crack a code, or unravel a mystery; just walk right into the invitation of God to His truths.
God’s greatest profundity is His simplicity.
The Bible says a fool will not err therein.
In one scripture, Jesus said, “It is hidden from the wise and the prudent, and it is revealed unto babes.”
As I analyzed that verse recently, hidden from the wise and prudent, I came to this understanding, revealed unto babes: you don’t have to be a Sage or a person of age to understand the word of God because the world by ‘wisdom’ knew not God.
I want to preach to you today that God in His goodness, God in His graciousness, and God in His kindness did not place the formula for victory and success thousands of years into His relationship with mankind.
He did not seclude it in the depths of the middle of His book or hold you captive unto the end of its final pages.
He just laid it out in full view, and people have stumbled over it for generations and when you open the FIRST BOOK of the Bible,
The words of VICTORY are found in the first four words of the Bible, “In the beginning God.” Genesis 1:1.
If you want victory, if you want success, all you need to know is that in the beginning, God.
If you want victory in your marriage, in the beginning God.
If you want victory in your home, in the beginning God.
If you want success in your business, in the beginning God.
The basis for victory and success in life is God first. Not LAST, but God first.
God wants priority, He wants preference, He wants the preeminence.
If we will put God first in your life we could have a revival that would shake this state, shake your church, shake your family, and bring you victory and success.
God does not want to be your last choice.
God does not want to be your last chance.
God does not want to be your concluding consolation. God doesn’t just want to be your Omega.
He wants to be your Alpha. He doesn’t just want to be your last; He wants to be your first.
How many remember the song, “When you’ve tried everything, and everything has failed, try Jesus.”
That is the concept of America today.
You only turn to God, like the Red Cross; you only seek God in times of national disaster or catastrophe.
Three words should define the church.
One is apostolic. That has to do with our doctrine.
The second word is Pentecostal. That has to do with our spiritual experience.
Third word is to be Christian. Christian in lifestyle.
Doctrine, nor standards give you the right to be anything less than what Jesus wants you to be.
Just because you know Acts 2:38, and there’s only one God, and you talk in tongues does not dismiss you from your responsibility of walking like Him, living like Him, talking like Him, and being like Him.
Doctrinal correctness, standard correctness, does not free us from the responsibility of being Christians.
The thing that’s going to turn our world upside down won’t be our doctrine, won’t be our spiritual experience, it’s going to be when men go to work walking like Jesus, living like Jesus, talking like Jesus, being like Jesus.
Doctrinal correctness and standards of righteousness give us no right to cuss anybody out.
We are not radical Muslims who feel the right that if you don’t believe like they believe they can kill you and Allah will bless them.
Jesus will not bless you for killing people that are less than you are doctrinally or holiness-wise.
Acts 11:26, nine chapters after they were filled with the Holy Ghost, nine chapters after they talked in tongues, baptized in Jesus’ name, saw a lame man walk, and miracles mightily done.
Acts 11:26 the disciples were called Christians first. They were called Christians first in Antioch.
I’m here to preach that it’s good to be called an apostolic, it’s good to be called a Pentecostal, but in the Bible they were Christians first.
We need a return to Christianity first. The Old Testament exposes us to the truth that God established the fact early on that He wanted to be first, He required the first.
In the Old Testament He required the first born, the first fruit, the first day of the week.
When they got ready to conquer Canaan, the book of Judges said they asked God who shall go up, God said Judah shall go up first.
It’s great to dance after you’ve gotten your miracle, it’s great to praise after you’ve got your healing.
It’s wonderful to give Him glory after He’s answered your prayer, but the Bible said if you’re in warfare you need to send Judah first.
We don’t need to praise last; we need to praise first. Anybody can praise when they’ve got miracles coming their way, anybody can worship when the blessings are flowing, but what God wants is Judah to go up first.
We’d probably have more miracles if we’d dance in advance. Do you have to see a miracle to praise your God? Do you have to have a blessing to praise your God? Do you have to have your answered prayer before you can praise Him?
If you want victory, if you want success, do it first.
In 1 Kings 17:13 the little widow lady and her son were saved from starvation and enjoyed miraculous provision because she prepared the man of God a cake first.
We’ve got all the ingredients for a miracle; we’ve just got it out of order. All we need is a little shuffling of our priorities, a little shuffling of what we think is most important. She made the man of God a cake first.
But I want you to notice what the man of God did in the first opening of that verse; he told this woman, “Fear not.” Sometimes it’s scary to put God first.
Sometimes, we’re a little uneasy about putting God first. And so, the man of God said, “Fear not. Bake me a cake first, and the miracle will be provided by Almighty God.”
Proverbs 3:9-10 in Tithe is more than 10%. It is the first 10%.
The reason some of you are paying your tithes and not being blessed is because you give it at the last.
And you’re out of order with God.
And the reason some of you feel like you can’t pay your tithes is because you pay everybody else, then if there’s anything left you give it to God.
But if you want victory, if you want success, if you want a blessing, it’s the first 10%. I rise to say today don’t be afraid to do it.
In Mark 12:41 and Jesus sat over against the treasury.
The Bible says that Jesus sat over against the treasury and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury.
He didn’t pay much attention to what, His focus was on how. Our God is a God of more than what, He’s a God of how.
It’s the attitude you have, it’s the spirit that you have, and it’s the response in your heart.
The Bible said the Lord loveth a cheerful giver. I’m talking about victory and success.
If you want victory and success, God’s got to become number one.
Psalm 137:5 If I forget the old Jerusalem let my right hand forget her cunning, if I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth. If I prefer not Jerusalem, above my chief joy...” If you want victory and success, church should be first in your life. A My church is first.
Our world has lost its respect for the house of God.
They have lost their commitment and faithfulness to the things of God. Brethren put it above everything. I’ve got to be in the house of God I must prefer Jerusalem.
Church should not be where you go when it’s convenient or when there’s nothing else to do. Make a Church a Priority.
Mark 12:29 gives us the first commandment. The first of the commandments is, “Hear O Israel the Lord our God is One Lord.”
That’s more than a doctrinal statement, it’s a devotional statement.
I shouldn’t worship anything more than God, I shouldn’t be more faithful to anything than God, I should not be more excited about anything than God.
It’s a devotional statement. “And thou shalt love the Lord thy God.” This is the first commandment. It’s joined together.
And you should love Him with all your heart, with all your soul, with all of your mind, with all your strength, this is the first commandment.
If we get God first in our lives, hell can’t touch us, the devil can’t stop us, and this world can’t handle us.
1 Timothy 2:1 “I enjoy therefore that first of all supplication…” The greatest admonition to men is that they pray and prayer is to be first.
If you get your life in order, you can have victory and success and prayer must become first in our lives.
Most of the challenges, contradictions, and conflicts in the lives of people would be resolved if they would put Jesus in the beginning.
The disciples, with Christ on board, encountered an incredible storm, and the Bible may have given us a clue:storms with Jesus? Storms with Him in your ship? What’s the source of storms?
It’s where you put Him. The word ‘hinder’ and the word ‘hind-er’ is the same thing.
So, when you put Him in the ‘hind-er’ you hinder Him.
But if you put Jesus in the front of your life, and in the front of your world He’s touchable, He’s accessible.
If you will put Jesus where He belongs your whole world will come together.
You’ll never get it together until you get Jesus where He belongs.
Yours for the Kingdom,
Pastor Kinsey
